The card number is unique and consists of twelve to sixteen digits.
- The first six digits form the BIN code – Bank Identification Number.
- The first 4 digits represent the credit card company.
- The 5th digit stands for the type of credit card (e.g. American Express: blue, green, gold, platinum).
- The 6th digit indicates whether it is a second card, partner card, company card, etc.
- The remaining 9 digits are the account number
- The last digit is the check digit
