What are IP Codes?
Ingress Protection codes, also known as IP codes, indicate how well a device is protected against dust and water. These codes consist of two digits. The first digit shows the level of protection against solid particles, such as dust. The higher the digit, the better the protection. The second digit indicates the level of protection against water.
Sometimes, an additional letter follows the digits. These letters provide extra information about the device’s protection against hazardous parts or specific conditions.
These codes help consumers understand how robust a device is and how it performs under special conditions.
