When encoding, a distinction must be made between letters and numbers, as the letter L and the number 5 are translated with the same Toki Pona word luka.
With numbers, a distinction must also be made between single-digit and multi-digit – compound – numbers.
Letter mode
single-digit numbers
All numbers entered are coded digit by digit.
I.e. 123 is interpreted and coded as 1, 2, 3.
multi-digit numbers
All numbers entered are displayed as sums of the basic numbers.
I.e. 123 = 100 + 20 + 3
