The Fox Code is a cipher introduced by Markus Gründel in his book “Geocaching I: Alles rund um die moderne Schatzsuche (Basiswissen für draußen)”.
The alphabet is divided into a 3×9 grid and continuously filled with letters:
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | |
1 | A | B | C | D | E | F | G | H | I |
2 | J | K | L | M | N | O | P | Q | R |
3 | S | T | U | V | W | X | Y | Z |
There are two variants for encoding:
- short original form: only the number of the columns is noted
GC WIZARD => 7 3 9 5 9 8 1 9 4
- long form: the numbers of the rows are also specified:
GC WIZARD => 71 31 93 53 91 83 11 92 41
