01 What is the Gray Code?

Gray code – Wikipedia

The Gray code is a continuous code in which adjacent code words differ only in a single binary digit. Transmission errors in continuously changing digital signals on multicore lines are thus reduced.

It serves as an encoding method for robust transmission of digital quantities over analog signal paths.

The code is named after the physicist Frank Gray, who received the patent for this method in 1953.
