04 What is MD5?

MD5 – Wikipedia

Message-Digest Algorithm 5 is a hash function published by Ronald L. Rivest in 1991.

The algorithm generates a 128 bit check digit that is written as a 32 digit hexadecimal number.

MD5 is now no longer considered secure, since it is possible with manageable effort to generate different messages that have the same MD5 hash value.
